rmcelroy Posted January 4, 2003 Posted January 4, 2003 I have an ASUS P4S533 motherboard with a 2.793 processor. I am looking to overclock it... I read the FAQ's and understand how to do it... I was just wondering if there are any good tips or anything... my FBS is supposed to run at 133Mhz with my multiplier speed at 21. I cannot change the multiplier speed, but I can push the FBS speed up to 151Mhz with no other changes being made and have no problems I have a water cooled system, so heat is the least of my worries for my processor... I have not adjusted the vCore at all... yet... how far would you think I can push it if it is adjusted, and are there any n00b tips you can provide me with? Thanks
xpandapuss Posted January 4, 2003 Posted January 4, 2003 With water cooling you can push that thing well....--With my 2.8GHz I got it @ 3.401GHz...with air cooling [Volcano 7+ and Tornado.... Love to hear the results....
rmcelroy Posted January 4, 2003 Posted January 4, 2003 i cant get past pushing the FBS speed past 151... if I do then the computer locks up. I figured I would try uping the vCore which is normally at 1.525 to see if I could go higher, but even if I up the vCore the computer locks up past 151~152... Plz Hlp!!! rmcelroy Posted January 5, 2003 Posted January 5, 2003 i havent messed with the frequencies going to the ram yet, could that have something to do with my problem? would they both need to be increased together?
DevilMB3017 Posted January 5, 2003 Posted January 5, 2003 The RAM is prolly the issue. What kind of RAM are you using? Also, if you have an option titled CPU/RAM Ratio or something along those lines, try it at 4:3 or 4:5 for beter results. rmcelroy Posted January 5, 2003 Posted January 5, 2003 im usinhg some crappy AIB brand ram 512 stick of DDR 333Mgz PC2700 (i think its overclocked ram, 2700 from 2100... but im not sure cuz it came with the rig) i do have the option to change the ratio. CPU/Mem frequency ratio... the only options i have are: [Auto] [1:1] [3:4] [3:5] [4:5] [3:6] [4:6] i was thinking of changing that earlier but i wasnt exactly saure what it would do... it looks like all the ratios have the ram getting more frequency than the cpu... i didnt really wanna do that cuz i have problems with the ram overheating. what should i do?
