Cw4zYcH3cH3n87 Posted January 3, 2003 Posted January 3, 2003 right now, the price for a 2100 on newegg is right, and is a rather cheap 96 dollars. you can pair that up with an Asus A7N8X, which has Nforce 2 technology, and together, the mobo and processor will be about $220, not a bad deal for the ammount of work force you have there, you can also get a Maxtor 40 gig HD with 7200 RPMs for $79, another good deal for the quickness there. I would go ahead and either get an ATI 9700 Pro right now for about $240, or wait about a month, and get an even better video card the Fx from Nvidia Geforce FX for a little more, but much better performance. Make sure you get an antec PSU because i have found they are the best, and alot of problems w/ your computer will come from a .ty PSU, so dont skimp there. Thats a good case to select, chieftec makes some of the best in my and alienware's opinion. with the A7N8X mobo, you can stick in 2 Crucial Micron 256MB RAM for 112 from newegg, a pretty good deal on ram...you choose your own drives and other misc stuff because i dont know what you want from this
Bosco Posted January 3, 2003 Posted January 3, 2003 Looks pretty good.. but I would suggest getting a bigger hard drive. 40Gb is rather small these days.. I'd go for a 60 or 80Gb atleast. As for memory, I would highly recommend atleast 512MB of memory. When gaming and using graphics software, you really can't get enough memory. If you can afford it, go for two sticks of 512MB. I would also recommend the Geforce 4 Ti 4600 with 128mb of onboard memory. This will help gaming and also help you run higher resolutions and still get a good frame rate. If you're going to be using Illustrator & Quark a lot, then I'd also recommend buying a fairly large monitor so that you can get more on your screen. I'm writing a book in Quark right now, and I sometimes use my laptop and it's a pain because the screen is only 15 inches. However, when I use my main computer which has a 19 inches, I can see both sides of the book on one page. Just some ideas

Bosco Posted January 3, 2003 Posted January 3, 2003 I'm not sure if you know about this site or not, but most of us shop at: http://www.pricewatch.com to find the best price on parts. However, I'm not sure how many stores will ship to the UK.
Cw4zYcH3cH3n87 Posted January 3, 2003 Posted January 3, 2003 im pretty sure newegg ships internationally, and i have found them to be the most reliable source. although if you buy from somewhere other than newegg, you might wanna go to www.resellerratings.com . what you do is type in the name of the company u wanna buy from, and it basically tells you how reliable the dealer is and gives you reviews from other actual people. good luck and happy modding
Cw4zYcH3cH3n87 Posted January 3, 2003 Posted January 3, 2003 sorry, scratch that last thought, i just checked and my beloved newegg does not ship internationally, only US and puerto rico sorry man
Bosco Posted January 3, 2003 Posted January 3, 2003 Yeah, good advice. Also Bizrate.com is good, because you can find some of the lowest prices plus you can see the ratings of the company.
Cw4zYcH3cH3n87 Posted January 3, 2003 Posted January 3, 2003 im having an amazingly hard time finding any half reliable companys that ship internationally, if you have any computer building buddys in the UK, you might want to ask them where they got their hardware, because it seems to be hard to find somewhere they ship to the UK
