ir_cow Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 as you can read above, iv hit a bigger wall. i got my cpu to 2.5ghz. at frist it would reboot on me after post than i upped the volts from 1.52 to 1.6 and it got me into windows than once i opened cpuz it froze on me. so my question is can these go higher? specs -------- 2.5x * 250HTT=625 (still way under 800) ram at 3-3-3-7 2.6v 166divider*250=215 iv gotten the ram to 240 to i know 215 is very safe ways from cooking. on another note i get my cpu to 2.4ghz with 2.5x * 240HTT=600 ram at 3-4-4-8 2.65v 200Diver*240=240 but thats about it, my ram cant go higher at 245 it wont post. any ideas? btw im still using stock fan, at 2.5ghz its idling at 40c and 2.4 at 37c
caffeinejunkie Posted March 2, 2005 Posted March 2, 2005 Have you tried upping the chipset/agp voltage? It's a longshot but i need both to almost full when i was running 6.5x343. I had my 2800 almost at 2.6 i wa so close but my crappy psu gave out and i'm looking into some water cooling.
ir_cow Posted March 2, 2005 Posted March 2, 2005 wouldnt that cook my 6800Gt?, ouch that would be pricey
caffeinejunkie Posted March 2, 2005 Posted March 2, 2005 well the agp voltage is more last resort kinda stuff. And i know people on here who run it the agp at full volts and have no issues. But raising the agp voltage only helps in extreme overclocks because the agp voltage also controls the southbridge voltage I think you only need to up it in high fsb overclocks. guzzidom Posted March 2, 2005 Posted March 2, 2005 I'd think about a better than stock fan/paste combo, you might be Idling at 40 but I bet as soon as you try to use the chip it is spinning straight up to 55+, my Newky runs cool but then it doesn't really like 50 plus and sometimes craps out so it's just as well. It's nice to show all the Sckt 939 willy rubbers on here that 754 still kicks arse
