gruvin2 Posted January 2, 2003 Posted January 2, 2003 Just upgraded to p4 2.53 and looking to overclock it ..and what is ideal cooling solution for under $200 ? my setup--- p4 2.53 asus p4t533 rdram 512mb 1066 32bit 4200 g4 4600 eVGA ;( WD 80gb 7200rpm antec 330w truepower lian li PC-7usb case Currently all stock cooling All i have read on my chipset and motherboard tell me its made to overclock with the right cooling solution. Im leaning towards water cooled ...Thermaltake for example. also unsure as to Overclock to 2.7 or 3.09? Aside from that, i dont know what multiplier to change to etc.... Before i do that i need to decide on what cooling to use for my setup. Anyone that has experience with this setup or know where to look for specs i need, please help me out Prior Athlon addict....very happy with my upgrade
Psywar Posted January 2, 2003 Posted January 2, 2003 well.. Id have to say.. water cooling will prolly get you up to 3ghz.. but.. it will prolly be a little more expensive then 200 bucks.. I would say go with an innovative water cooling kit.. if ur in to kits.. if not.. get dangerden parts like waterblocks etc.. they seem to perform the best out of anything out there.. If you want plain air cooling.. I would suggest you go Swiftech.. there HSFs are one of the best out there slap a tornado fan on one of them badboys and u will be in cooling heaven
gruvin2 Posted January 3, 2003 Posted January 3, 2003 Thanks for the info Psy... looked online all day for cooling solutions...definately going with water cooled setup..hopeing my current aluminum case will suffice to fit the setup. Do you happen to know a website where they compare multiple water cooled setups and waterflow etc...didnt have much luck there. xpandapuss Posted January 3, 2003 Posted January 3, 2003 Psy is right [once again].... I'll second that and recommend water cooling, but I must say that I was able to OC my 2.4GHz to 3.01GHz with air cooling--ThermalTake Volcano7+........ Where can I find out what CPU core voltages to use at different overclocking speeds?
xpandapuss Posted January 4, 2003 Posted January 4, 2003 I'm not sure if there is one available--you have to test--trail and error-- and adjust the voltage accordingly to maintain system stability.... If you increase the FSB and the system isn't stable [crashes, abnormal operation, etc.] then you would increase the core voltage [ONE STEP AT A TIME] until the system is stable. Be sure to have proper cooling....as it is a necessity.
gruvin2 Posted January 4, 2003 Posted January 4, 2003 Ive been reading everything i can find online for the last 3 days and have become much more aware. Thanks to all the wonderful forums and websites for OCing. Im going with a watercooled setup. Taking my time and lookin into what setup is ideal for me, before i even begin to start tweakin my PC. I cant wait to see what this badboy can do. Somewhere i read my cpu will max clock at 3.2gb. Thanks for all the insight.
