mantonr Posted February 26, 2005 Posted February 26, 2005 Is there a way to limit the size of an individual folder. I have set up one of my computers as an FTP server and have told one of my friends that he can use it to back up some of his files on it. I have made a folder for him on the computer and only he can access that and it is the only folder that he can access. Though i want to make sure that he doesn't put literally loads of stuff on there and fill the disk so i wanted to put a limit on the size of the folder. Any help with this would be most appreciated. hardnrg Posted February 26, 2005 Posted February 26, 2005 i know you can assign a disk quota to a particular user account in xp (maybe only pro?) ... it's in the Help n Support if you search "quota"
d3bruts1d Posted February 26, 2005 Posted February 26, 2005 For speciffic folders, you'll need a 3rd party program. Windows doesn't allow that AFAIK.
airman Posted February 26, 2005 Posted February 26, 2005 don't some ftp server programs have the ability to limit the size uploaded to it?
Kamikaze_Badger Posted February 26, 2005 Posted February 26, 2005 Do what NRG said and just use a disk quota of some sort.
Guest Jeremy Posted February 26, 2005 Posted February 26, 2005 Yeah, to make a disk quota though, I'm pretty sure you'll need to make a new partition, and manage it on that drive in particular.
bigr5026 Posted February 27, 2005 Posted February 27, 2005 cant you create a virtual drive using a folder, i think you do this through disk management. Anyway, that should work, set the folder up as a drive and than use disk quota

sykocus Posted February 27, 2005 Posted February 27, 2005 don't some ftp server programs have the ability to limit the size uploaded to it? 428692[/snapback] I'd check that out. seems the simplest way to go. I know ser-u ftp server allows you to set up a disk quota for each user.
