oraq Posted February 25, 2005 Posted February 25, 2005 i have been trying to set up a bootable Sata disc on my Msi KM4M-V......... think i have to maybe go into Sata bios and make a 'bootable array'!? but all the options are greyed out and all i can do is exit....... is this cos i only have one drive ?? strange though, as it let me stripe it on my chaintech board
r_target Posted February 25, 2005 Posted February 25, 2005 Usually, you need more than one drive to build a RAID.
exeter_acres Posted February 25, 2005 Posted February 25, 2005 What do you have set up in the BIOS for boot order? Have you used the SATA as a slave on this board before? Some boards have jumpers to turn the SATA channel on or off... True you do need 2 (or more) drives for a RAID setup, but only one to run SATA.. You striped a single drive? How? Ruenin Posted February 25, 2005 Posted February 25, 2005 Make sure the jumpers (if any) for SATA on your mobo are set to 'enable'. On my ASUS A7N8X-E, I had to set it up in the BIOS to boot from RAID or SCSI (if you have the option of either, set it to RAID, otherwise set it to SCSI) devices. Check there. I'm willing to bet it's a jumper on your board though.
