bass_freak Posted January 1, 2003 Posted January 1, 2003 Ok, well i have a very open plan right now...it started out just water cooling my current system..but heres what im after now Dual Proccer System (AMD or Intel) ....suggestions and comments on that Water cooling it....Concerns 1.how could i do it so one cpu wasnt getting the others already heated up liquid. 2.i would like to also water cool the GPU, with out getting heated up fluid to... 3.The ram...not done often..but i am planing on overclocking..and would heat sinks be good with maybe small fans on the ram..or could water cooling be achieved Would water cooling be enough...or shoudl i still have fans...i would like to have nice quit computer..that rips and tears like hell...im looking at 2ghz proccessors at the least....2.6 P4 are what im leaning towards... any help on diffrent motherboards, water cooling set ups , or if amd would be a better choice then intel let me know please...thanks
Bassdude1000 Posted January 1, 2003 Posted January 1, 2003 in my honest opinion, i wouldn't go dualie after my stint with it. However, if you do, get the Asus mp board. My friend has it and really likes it. Plus, there is a bios feature that allows you to turn of mp check, so you can just run xp's(much cheaper)

Psywar Posted January 2, 2003 Posted January 2, 2003 Well it would get kinda expensive... but heres an idea.. it kinda shoots the whole quite comp thing out of proportion though... have the resv.. hold the water.. pumps it in to the radiator.. cools the water.. runs to the first cpu.. the one on top! after it runs thu the cpu.. it pushes up to the next radiator.. cools the water back down.. runs it thru proc #2 see im thinking.. u could mount the first radiator on the front inside of the case.. the 2nd radiator on top under the PSU and then have a 3rd radiator on the back.. and that will cool the water for the GPU.. I know that gets kinda expensive.. and Im thinking if u go with YS Tech 120mm fans.. with some rheos.. it wont be too loud.. Or sunnnons.. there quiter... and have very good air flow..and if u wanted to just for the hell of it.. get a 4th radiator.. and put it right before the water goes in to the resv.. so its going in to the first raditor cold already but thats just for fun.. But thats my idea.. well I thought about doing that at a point.. but cash flowage here isent quite that good
xboarder Posted January 2, 2003 Posted January 2, 2003 dont go with intel unless you are going to run duel xeons...go with AMD mp's...as far as watercooling it goes, you could avoid having the heated water go into the other waterblocks by having the pump pump the water into a reservor of some sorts which then splits into 3 tubes, one for cpu #1, one for cpu#2 and one for the gpu...then have them feed into another small reservor and recombine right before it feeds into the radiator...dont bother with trying any kind of watercooling setup on the ram...ive never seen it have much an effect on comps where ppl have tried it...just use ramsinks and a fan or two...make sure that your cpu waterblocks also will mount on whatever Mboard you choose...personally i wouldnt go with a duel system unless you were building a server...while some programs like WinXP and some graphics programs ive worked with do support them, alot of programs, esp. many games dont support duel processors...so you might want to take that into consideration
bass_freak Posted January 2, 2003 Posted January 2, 2003 ok..so if a program / game doesn't support dual proccers..will it still run? just using one or the othre...also how do you think seti/folding would work... I am manly building one cause i never have before..and it be fun to play with..ya good reson to blow a few grand i know but....i can't afford xeon so dont' work about that P4's aren't relay in the budget but if ppl think they would be better then mp then i figed i would blow some extra cash.... I was thinking of 2 radatiors..but 4..holy shoot i better look at a big big case i like the idea tho...i would need more then one PSU tho i think....cause it would suck some juice down thats for sure
Psywar Posted January 2, 2003 Posted January 2, 2003 nah!.. only need one PSU.. get and enhim pump.. suprsts.. out like 500+ gall's an hr.. it will work perfect.. I do like Xboarders Idea of the split offs too that would work! On a dual system.. u can run games.. they just wont use both proc.. it will only use one.. unless the game supports dualies.. and when u run folding or seti.. u can dedicate a cpu to a certain program.. so u could have one running seti and one running folding.. oh and the pump.. runs off AC so.. thats why u wouldent need a 2nd psu.. Psywar Posted January 2, 2003 Posted January 2, 2003 Looks like MP's are going to be ur choice of weapns..
TiM Posted January 2, 2003 Posted January 2, 2003 How about that: just make that thing - "Y": when from one water tube creates two and after CPU cooling - combine them back intro one. Btw MP Athlons is too newbie for dual processor systems. <_
DevilMB3017 Posted January 2, 2003 Posted January 2, 2003 My input. With a little unlocking kit, you could turn Athlon XP's into MP's, a very good idea. Dual 2800+ would be great!
