Ronin Posted January 3, 2003 Posted January 3, 2003 according to what I just read on those sites the GeForce 4 ti 4800 has a slower gpu speed and slower memory speed then the ti 4600....kinda odd. But it says it uses the fx engine..I dunno, they say they're out of stock so maybe they're just getting ready for the release
ATI Radeon 8500 Posted January 3, 2003 Posted January 3, 2003 Yea hthe reason it seemed so weird to me was that they're about to realease the FX...But the NVIDIA site didn't even have it listed.

d3bruts1d Posted January 3, 2003 Posted January 3, 2003 Based on the card by power cooler, the 4800 looks like an 8x card that falls between the 4200 and 4400.  Power Color GF-4 TI 4800: nVidia nifineteFX ll Engine 10.4GB/Sec Memory Bandwidth 128Bit DDR Memory 32 Bit Z/Stencil Buffer Core speed 274 Memory speed 554 Support Directx and Open GL   The 4200 runs at 250 MHz Core Clock, 500 MHz Memory Clock The 4400 runs at 300Mhz Core Clock, 550 Mhz Memory Clock And the 4600 runs at 300 MHz Core Clock, 650 MHz Memory Clock   Looks like it should be called the 4200-8x or 4400-8x rather than the 4800...  Maybe nVidia decided to call it the 4800 because it has AGP 8x. Who knows...

ATI Radeon 8500 Posted January 4, 2003 Posted January 4, 2003 Yeah actually on PCStats they called an Albatron 4200 8X a 4680. Still weird that they list it seperately and it's more expensive than a 4600.
xpandapuss Posted January 4, 2003 Posted January 4, 2003 hmmmmmmmmmm........ Well, even though it's priced higher than the 4600, maybe it's geared [or priceed] at the "midrange" user. When the FX is [finally] released I'm sure the price will be higher than the 4800....
