Ste Posted February 23, 2005 Posted February 23, 2005 if anything upgrade to a good 450 watt brand name PSU that has good voltages. Im just saying, there could be other problems that could cause ur problem though.
kobalt Posted February 23, 2005 Posted February 23, 2005 400W should be enough for that stuff but as i said in another post, most psu's dont come close to the wattage marked on the box, usually
oldfett Posted February 23, 2005 Posted February 23, 2005 Yeah its not the best PSU so it probably is overrated. What PSU would you guys recomend then? I dont have a whole lot of money and the most I could spend at the moment is 80. If there is none below or around 80 just give it to me straight up what I need. Thanks again. martymcfly Posted February 23, 2005 Posted February 23, 2005 i got an aspire 520W PSU, which is good and stable and only 56 bucks or something. But it is only like 450-500 watts in reality. Still should be good.
oldfett Posted February 23, 2005 Posted February 23, 2005 What wattage on a PSU should I shoot for? I want this thing to last for quite awhile so I might as well get a good one now.
martymcfly Posted February 23, 2005 Posted February 23, 2005 get at least 450W, but that isnt the only thing that matters. A 450W cheapo probably wont do as well as a 400W antec.
GregP24 Posted February 23, 2005 Posted February 23, 2005 Fortrons are suppposed to be pretty decent. I think they run $70-
oldfett Posted February 23, 2005 Posted February 23, 2005 Will 450 watts last me for 2 years or so or would I need to go higher to keep it future proof for awhile?
martymcfly Posted February 23, 2005 Posted February 23, 2005 if you want a future proof machine, buy a time machine
oldfett Posted February 23, 2005 Posted February 23, 2005 I didnt mean i wanted a future proof machine. I meant that I dont want to replace the PSU now and then when I upgrade in 6 months have to upgrade it again.

I meant that I dont want to replace the PSU now and then when I upgrade in 6 months have to upgrade it again. 425210[/snapback] I was a little worried about that myself. The new motherboards are already using 24 pin ATX connectors. I just picked up an Enermax 465 last week; it has the 24 pin connector, but the extra four pins are breakaway/reattachable. Pretty cool. It should hold me over 'til (if) BTX hits.
