CompX Posted December 30, 2002 Posted December 30, 2002 And i was also hoping if anybody I mean ANYBODY could help me OC it
DevilMB3017 Posted December 30, 2002 Posted December 30, 2002 Yea, thats not a bad rig at all. Well, to OC it, you simply need to read my guide, here. I would post some stuff, but the guide goes in depth better.
d3bruts1d Posted December 30, 2002 Posted December 30, 2002 Not bad at all... I've been looking at Iwill's product line (for P3 tho) and they've got some nice looking boards. Never see much on them tho. As far as OCing it. That's simple, just enter your system BIOS and increase the FSB a little... test it, if it's all good, increase it some more.. and repeat.. if the system becomes unstable, you can either up the vcore, or drop the FSB a little. Upping the FSB and/or the Vcore will cause the CPU to get hotter, which is a bad thing, so you'll want to keep an eye on the temps and make sure it doesn't go to high. Lot's of OCers here... if ya have any questions, feel free to ask. We'll help if we can. In addition the above that, OCC also has a OCing FAQ that was put together by information from many of the members here (most of it was taken straight out of the forums). You can find it here or by clicking on FAQ from the main page.
CompX Posted December 30, 2002 Posted December 30, 2002 Thx alot ill start on that as soon as i can, but just one more question, to upgrade my ram. Would it be smarter to go with one stick or dual sticks. How much would the ram upgrade and a volcano 7+ cost?
Bosco Posted December 30, 2002 Posted December 30, 2002 On a side note: Most of us use pricewatch.com to find the best prices on the Internet for computer parts I'd go with one stick of RAM if at all possible.
bishop245 Posted December 30, 2002 Posted December 30, 2002 im not sure but i think that board has to have 2 sticks of ram or 1 and a dummy stick to work just checked 1 of my old post and that is the same board my boss was going to give me and it does take what i said
bishop245 Posted December 30, 2002 Posted December 30, 2002 oh yeah i like your system too very nice
DevilMB3017 Posted December 30, 2002 Posted December 30, 2002 As LinuxProX stated, one stick is better, but with RDRAM, I'm pretty sure you need two sticks to run. Two sticks of 256 PC1066, or even 2 sticks of 512 would be great if you have the money for it. The Volcano 7+ can be found for around 30 bucks, here is one online store that sells it, but there are many more. Plus, the RAM, which is very exspensive, could be upwards of 200 dollars.
