fastvfr Posted February 16, 2005 Posted February 16, 2005 "You don't buy a Pontiac if you wants a Cadillac! You don't buy a Zenith if you wants an RCA!" Go with the 8 extra pipes and the added muscle of the 6800GT. You Will Not Regret The Wait Nor The Purchase. It is pre-ordained, Brother Bionic. Go to the LIGHT!!! RVE Posted February 16, 2005 Posted February 16, 2005 If you are going to use the new vidcard with the rig in your sig, be advised you will definitely be CPU bottlenecked with a 6800GT . With the rig in my sig, virtually every game I play is CPU limited. However, if you do plan to upgrade the rest of your rig sometime down the road (like I do) then a 6800GT should be a good choice. So when you do upgrade to a nice beefy CPU of your choice, the 6800GT will be able to stretch its legs.
r_target Posted February 16, 2005 Posted February 16, 2005 I would save a little more and get a CPU, motherboard, and vid card all at once. At least you'd have the PCI-express transition out of the way.
