Akujin Posted February 16, 2005 Posted February 16, 2005 Hi! I was wondering what makes the biggest difference in the time it takes to complete a WU. I have three rigs going at the moment, an A64 2800+, a Celeron @ 768MHz, and a Pentium 4 2.4GHz. My A64 can pump out WUs 4 times faster than the Celeron, but the Celeron can pump out WUs twice as fast as the Pentium 4. If it is solely processor dependent, why is my Celeron out-folding my Pentium 4?
r_target Posted February 16, 2005 Posted February 16, 2005 It would depend on which work unit each one is Folding. Some take longer than others. In addition, some CPU's can chew through certain WU's faster than others. As nearly as I can tell, AMD's and Intel's both have their strengths and weaknesses. To get a rough comparison, take note of a certain WU on whichever machine, write down how long it takes, and when the other machines pull the same WU, write the time down and compare. fire_storm Posted February 16, 2005 Posted February 16, 2005 It also depends on size of the wu s. Some computers get larger ones then the others. Also just to say this post should have gone in the occ team info section.
