Erasing Computers

I have a computer that I need to delete completely. It is utterly virus infested and I want to get it working to its full potential. How would I wipe every last bit before I reinstall windows? I want to delete every bit, not just reinstall windows.

I was under the impression that reformatting still left tiny traces of the old install+progs, when i did it to my old comp it was still hella slow and was $#%t when I started trying to use it again. Am I way off or what. Does it delete everything fully or just "delete" it and wait for it to be overwritten by other programs. I know I'm a newb but I just got back into computers recently.

A bit rude mate...

Yes, a format clears everything and can be done easily by starting up with the windows disk in the drive. Let it do what it has to do for a while, then you get to a section where you can add and delete partitions. What I do to format is delete the partition entirely, then create it again and format it using NTFS (FULL, not quick). Then install windows from there. Its very easy really and most of your time is spend waiting for windows to install.
