soccrstar Posted December 23, 2002 Posted December 23, 2002 hi, i'm new to the peltier business i was wonderin' if there would actually be a temp in usin' a peltier or straight watercooling right now i'm thinkin' of gettin' da maze3-1 (wit cold plate) but dont know wich cold plate to get either da 80w or da 176w. and also if my p/s can support da 176w peltier (500w PowMaX power supply) diz iz how i'm gon put up system athlon XP 2700+, AIW radeon 9700pro, 4 Hard drives, 1 dvd-rom, 1 cd-rw, 1 dvd-R/W drive, 2 120mm case fans, 11 80mm case fans, SB live 5.1 sound card, USB adapter, firewire adapter u think i can have all dose and 176w peltier all on my 500w power supply? Psywar Posted December 23, 2002 Posted December 23, 2002 hrmm.. No.. lol.. sorry.. you are going to want 176watter or more if you can find a bigger one.. the 80 prolly wont... lets see.. you need a pelt that has more wattage then the heat wattage given off by the CPU.. and I think 80 wont be enough for the 2700.. honestly if ur in to pelt cooling Id get a new swiftech with the peltiers attatched.. they are very nice.. the pelts run at 226watts.. you can get a second PSU from them and the power useage is spacificly for the pelts.. so you will be suppling it with enough power.. its small.. and you wont have to worrie about blowing out a PSU.. NyCUnDaGroUnD Posted December 23, 2002 Posted December 23, 2002 yur best bet is to get cheap peltier psu. I know u have 500w psu, but u do not want to take chances in egg frying yur amd 2700+. Yeah as Psy has said, Swiftech is in the spotlight in terms of performance. They have some great stuff, but dangerden is a respectible company too. soccrstar Posted December 24, 2002 Posted December 24, 2002 k thanx for the input but... wit the swiftech waterblocks the peltier one NEEDS to b bolted. AND my mobo dont got da 4 holes. only dangerdens maze3-1 (wit cold plate) has the retention clip. and the psu for peltier run ALOT over 100 bucks also if i waz to get a psu for peltier i might as well get da 226w peltier both same price n wat u think the cpu temp would be like 30C or lower? DevilMB3017 Posted December 24, 2002 Posted December 24, 2002 At boot I can get around 28C, but it shoots straight up to 32 after like 2 seconds. Then it goes up to around 38 full load. I love my volcano 9!

enforc3r Posted December 29, 2002 Posted December 29, 2002 it depends on the hot-plate of the peltier... the better this side is cooled the lower the temps on the other side are B)
