cracker75357 Posted February 3, 2005 Posted February 3, 2005 As the title suggests, I have a USB printer, and a print server with a parallel port. I would like to know if anyone has ever heard of a USB to parallel adapter. As in, USB from the printer to parallel which in turn goes to the print server. Thanks for your help. Nemo Posted February 3, 2005 Posted February 3, 2005 "usb parallel adapter" and you'll get plenty of hits like this.
cracker75357 Posted February 3, 2005 Posted February 3, 2005 Believe it or not, thats the wrong thing. I'm looking for an adapter than i can plug a usb printer into, then plug the adapter into a parallel port. NOT turning a parallel printer into a USB. Thanks though. Nemo Posted February 3, 2005 Posted February 3, 2005 (edited) He he - I kinda wondered about that after I posted. Â Edit: OK. How about getting the USB to Parallel cable shown in the original link and then putting a gender changer on each end? cracker75357 Posted February 3, 2005 Posted February 3, 2005 I dont know if gender changers exist for usb. Also, I'm pretty sure that the converters dont work in reverse. USB's data bits are transferred a diff way than Parallel, hence the need for the converter. Other than that, maybe its worth a shot. Nerm Posted February 3, 2005 Posted February 3, 2005 How about a usb and parallel combo print server? That way you can hook it up both ways.
cracker75357 Posted February 3, 2005 Posted February 3, 2005 Thing is, a new USB print server costs around $100, higher if I want a good one. Good advice, but I'm cheap as hell, and just want to do this the ghetto way.
