kevinz90 Posted February 2, 2005 Posted February 2, 2005 (edited) Ok, here's the deal like the title says it a k8m800-mlv with an athlon 64 (754) 1gb pc3200 ram. The problem is when I tell windows to restart theres no video. I'm using the onboard graphics and have all the lastest drivers,on the windows 64 os. fastvfr Posted February 3, 2005 Posted February 3, 2005 Does it do this in a NON-beta OS too? Win2K or regular 32-bit XP? The thing that is lacking the most in 64-bit computing has to be driver support. There will be a patch after awhile, no doubt. fastvfr Posted February 3, 2005 Posted February 3, 2005 Okay, so it isn't the OS. The next thing to try would be a BIOS flash, if you haven't already. Testing with an AGP vid card would be a good idea, too. It is possible that the onboard graphics controller chip isn't working properly...are the latest VIA 4-in-1 chipset drivers installed? You might want to roll them back to a slightly older version, if so. Some other possibilities include the PSU and the RAM; you could try reseating the memory (or putting it into the other slot if you have a 1GB DIMM) or testing with a strong power supply. DECwakeboarder Posted February 3, 2005 Posted February 3, 2005 At what point do you get no video? It sounds like it will POST with video but then craps out when it goes to boot. Correct me if I'm wrong, and is this only when you reboot or also when you cold boot the system?
kevinz90 Posted February 3, 2005 Posted February 3, 2005 This thing is strange, ok I started out with the drivers that came on the disk. And it did it then. So I got the lastest drivers from Via and it still did it so I did a BIOS flash still the same problem. I'm using 2x512 sticks of ram I pulled 1 out tried them in different slots and it still does it. Here's the weird part I put a agp video card in it, it does'nt see the card at all and I know it's a good card because I pulled it out of a working rig. But as long as the video card is in there it restarts fine with video so fard it has not failed I think this board is junk.
