CPU_Cooker Posted February 1, 2005 Posted February 1, 2005 I am using ATItool to oc my ATI 9600xt. I have run it up to 550 x 320 so far with no problem. At least for now. I was wondering how hot it can get before problems start to set in, and if it does get too hot, then how will I know, like when playing a game or something. Thanks CPU_Cooker
zigen Posted February 1, 2005 Posted February 1, 2005 gpus can take a crap load of heat like 70C before they start dying
Verran Posted February 1, 2005 Posted February 1, 2005 My BFG 6800GT OC's drivers show ~50c right outta the box. Seems high to me, but sounds pretty standard as far as I can tell.
Eva_Unit_0 Posted February 1, 2005 Posted February 1, 2005 Yep, video cards run a lot hotter than cpu's do. I'd allow up to 80C load before I got worried...above that, I'd look for better cooling. My Leadtek 6800gt gets like 48C idle and 70C load at 400mhz core.
trace Posted February 1, 2005 Posted February 1, 2005 my card used to load at up to 94C...and i am not even sure if that is REALLY hot cuz it is a pci-e and they run hotter...but with some tweaking(lapping, card fan next to it) it now loads at 71C
xPETEZx Posted February 1, 2005 Posted February 1, 2005 my X800XT PE + AC cooler 4 idels at around 40C and under full load gets no higher than 60 Normaly around 55 when playing HL2 or FarCry
gravy Posted February 1, 2005 Posted February 1, 2005 yeah, nvidia's own drivers are set to alarm at 127c by default, so i wouldnt worry too much, but the cooler the better

kurosen Posted February 2, 2005 Posted February 2, 2005 When you hit somewhere around 90C with the ATI and still wanna push it, you should consider some AS5 and AC Silencer... EDIT: w00t! got another star
imm0rt41 Posted February 2, 2005 Posted February 2, 2005 My 5900se loads at ~56C with stock cooling. Of course, this is before the OC on the card. Afterwards the temps rose about 8-10C

Thanks CPU_Cooker 409327[/snapback] I have the exact same card at 571 327 with no problems, I only run this when playing cs just because. I get about 10+ fps out of it. How is everyone monitoring their Vid card temps? I don't think this one has a sensor.
