localguru Posted January 29, 2005 Posted January 29, 2005 So I have never put together a new pentium 4 system. And this new motherboard, has a long 24 pin power supply plug, and then a small 4 pin connection. the manual says there are two power connections. Do I need to plug in both? or can I only use the small 4 pin connection? sorry for the dumb question.
imm0rt41 Posted January 29, 2005 Posted January 29, 2005 Yeah, on a p4 board be sure to plug in both connections.
r_target Posted January 29, 2005 Posted January 29, 2005 You'll need the big ATX power connector as well as the four pin "P4" connector (which A64 uses now too). As far as 20 pin/24 pin compatibility, you'd have to look into that, as I haven't played with one. If you have a 24 pin mobo and PSU, then no prob, I guess. localguru Posted January 30, 2005 Posted January 30, 2005 sweet thanks, in the mother board it says to not use pin 12-13 and 24 ans 23, it looks like all is well. thanks
Eva_Unit_0 Posted January 31, 2005 Posted January 31, 2005 I'm pretty sure that you plug in EITHER a full 24-pin EPS plug, or the regular 20-pin w/ the 4-pin 12V feed.
BabyBalrog Posted February 1, 2005 Posted February 1, 2005 Make sure you put te 4 pin "P4" plus in it's 4 pin whole NOT in the left over 4 pins that you have from only using a 20 pin for teh main power.. I had a friend to that and it wasn't pretty
fluffles Posted February 1, 2005 Posted February 1, 2005 i got a ag8 plug the big 24pin connector into the big mobo socket, then the small 4pin-er that probly says sumthing like p4 on it into the one near the cpu plug in as much as possible. my system voltages are sooooooooo stable because of it and ur mobo will thank u if everything is filled if ur still unsure, check ur psu manual
