64 Bit Windows - When?

Howzit Guys,

 

I'm just got my A64 rig setup nicely.

 

3Dmark 01 SE; 2402.

3DMark 03 ; 6689.

 

Now, i've just heard about a 64-bit windows some where, forgot where.

Does anyone have any infomation on the OS, and any sort of due date?

you can use partition magic (or some other partitioning software) to make a new partition on your harddrive... then you can install xp64 to the new partition... alternatively you could install xp64 to a completely different harddrive...

I heard that the next version of windows is due out sometime in 2006, but I am most likely mistaken.

thats what i heard... around 06...and its supposed to be 64-bit with the new windows file system WinFS

code named Windows "Longhorn" right now...

 

but the beta version of WinXP 64-bit is available free at microsofts page... i believe a link is a few posts up... still needs a lot of work with drivers and such tho
