tocool0 Posted December 19, 2002 Posted December 19, 2002 I an new to this. I need info on what to do with my board and chip. I have a MSI KT3 Ultra 333 chipset and a XP 2000+ and would like to overclock to the safest and stable max.
gardnerr2001 Posted December 19, 2002 Posted December 19, 2002 I have the same combo.Just up the fsb,say in increments of 3 until it gets unstable, then up the voltage a bit.You can put the memory on the HCLK setting if you want, maybe up the voltage.Just experiment, but watch the temps.Make sure you use a good cooling setup.I'm using a Volcano 9 on this one and it never gets above 42c.Good ram helps also. Dgephri Posted December 19, 2002 Posted December 19, 2002 Voltage control is in the BIOS section "frequency and voltage control" then go below the front side bus settings, and change core voltage from "auto" to a higher value, probably 1.8 to start? then check your temps. Â I have gotten mine up to 143 front side bus, and stable during benchmark, but I have the BIOS update 5.6 from MSI, and I didn't up the voltage at all...my temps were in the mid-high 30's (36-39 at load). Â Good luck, go slow.
tocool0 Posted December 19, 2002 Posted December 19, 2002 Are you using the fuzy logic to adjust your fsb?
KraZy Posted December 20, 2002 Posted December 20, 2002 Isn't the XP 2000 locked? There are some good kits out there....
Shaggy Posted December 20, 2002 Posted December 20, 2002 You dont need to unlock the cpu to overclock it.
Dgephri Posted December 20, 2002 Posted December 20, 2002 I didn't use Fuzzy Logic: it didn't it run well on my Win98SE system...so I just go directly to the BIOS...Read a couple of the Overclocking guides on this and other sites to get started...just don't try to change the "multiplier" because that IS locked, the Front Side Bus isn't.
