markiemrboo Posted January 24, 2005 Posted January 24, 2005 Evaluation? Why evaluation? There's plenty of other [superior] distros out there if you're prepared to read and learn. I find the documentation for Linux O/S's in general to be rather lacking, which is why I chose FreeBSD ( sorry, had to be said ). If you're determined to go Linux, why not try... Slackware... or some other distro? I was never very fond of RedHat so.. meh. I imagine you'll be able to get your graphics card working with the binary from http://www.nvidia.com If you need a quick intro to the command line, if you want to go the learning route and start becoming a real Linux guru, see: http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1...ook/basics.html to get you started with the basics. Alot of the info on there, if not all of it, should still be relevant -- that should apply to most of the other sections on there. The networking stuff is likely to be rather different, but that's about all I can think of, off the top of my head. Someone else might be able to point you to some good Linux documentation, but of course I don't know of any because I don't use Linux anymore. Not that I knew of any good documentation when I did use Linux way back then Good luck.
swifty11212 Posted January 24, 2005 Posted January 24, 2005 ty, right now im downloading fedora, ill try freebsd, also evaluations arent bad, i downloaded microsoft exchange server for server 2003, and it was good, before the 120 days ran up lol. Edit: downloading 2x 600mb files on a 3mbs dsl is like downloading on 56k.

Yes, I used to download various Linux distro's when I had 56k not so long ago (just over a year ago now). I'm very patient though I suppose...didn't bother me much
