spectrascope Posted January 16, 2005 Posted January 16, 2005 I have no choice but a prebuilt in this case the specs it needs to be either a intel 3GHZ 775 or AMD 64 939 3000+ ram can be 512mb or 1gb as long as it is dual channel pc3200 or higher It must have a dual layer dvd burner It must have a SATA hard disk 120gb or greater it must have either a pci-express or AGP 8x slot It must run quietly it needs to have windows xp pro and office pro sweet It needs to be equal to or less than $1500USD would prefer a shuttle case but it not required it is more important that is rock stable and has a big enough prower supply to support a 9600 PRO

spectrascope Posted January 16, 2005 Posted January 16, 2005 just the best for the price because ABS went to crap so now I don't have many decent options for prebuilts whene nessecary
Seth_Man Posted January 16, 2005 Posted January 16, 2005 well hp is prolly your best bet for a prebuilt machine. alienware is expensive, sony is way proprietary (and expensive). with hp at least you have the option to get decent hardware, most hp systems have motherboards manufactured by ASUS and are slight variants of generic asus boards on the market. ks752 Posted January 16, 2005 Posted January 16, 2005 (edited) There is a company that lets you buy all the components from them and then they assemble the system for you and install windows. The assembly and OS loading fee is like $40. I just ran some numbers halfway...it was only at $500 with 1 GB of RAM, CPU, and Mobo. So, it was going to be well under $1500. gravy Posted January 16, 2005 Posted January 16, 2005 actually, monarchcomputer makes pre-built pc's, but they are made from the same parts you might buy, they just put it together, test it and warranty it, so it's like getting a pc you can upgrade without having to learn how to build one the first time, they have some in the $550-600 range i think http://www.monarchcomputer.com/Merchant2/m...=SystemSpecials of course, for that money you'll only get onboard video, but, they let you customize it however you want, great way to get started! oh, did i mention i know the people that run the place personally?
