InvaderTrax Posted January 15, 2005 Posted January 15, 2005 Alright, I'm buying a 6800 and I'm trying to decide between getting a normal one or the Gigabyte one with the giant heat pipe. My case doesn't have particularly good air flow, so I'm thinking the heat pipe may not be a good idea. Any thoughts?
markiemrboo Posted January 15, 2005 Posted January 15, 2005 Get the cheapest one and buy a VGA silencer thing?
Fanatic Posted January 15, 2005 Posted January 15, 2005 (edited) Has anyone tried a silencer on the 6800 yet? I didn't think there was a silencer made for the 6800 yet. However if there is I hope it's low profile as I do not have a lot room for a large silencer. OK, So they do produce a silencer for the 6800. Still wondering how much space it uses. fire_storm Posted January 15, 2005 Posted January 15, 2005 My vga silancer takes up 1 pci slot under the card.
Pyrthas Posted January 16, 2005 Posted January 16, 2005 I *think*, although I'm not certain, that the new VF700 will fit just about any card out there. Only place I've found so far that's selling them is Sharka, but so far they've shipped them when they said they would.
Eva_Unit_0 Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 I read some reviews on the Gigabyte, and they couldn't get it to overclock worth a crap. They said that the heatpipe just BARELY can keep it cool at stock speeds, so oc-ing is pretty much a no-no.
r_target Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 Doesn't the NV Silencer fit it? 6800's get pretty toasty, so I don't know about heatpipes.
