Anubis Posted December 9, 2002 Posted December 9, 2002 I was playing a game, when my computer chose to turn itself off suddenly without notice. My temp alarm did not go off and when i removed the case, everything was cool. When i went to power it back on the computer seemed to fail to send any information to the monitor. The last time i saw this happen was during a very large lan party on another machine, when the ps was getting too hot. So I let it sit for a few, tried again. Still nothing. I have tried the following solutions, none of which gave any other errors: 1. Checked all cords, all cords were fine 2. Replaced Ram 3. Tried with no ram installed (no beep codes) 4. Checked processer for physical damage 5. Switched out video cards, went from an agp card to a pci card 6. switched back vid cards and tried booting up with no IDE cables plugged in (on advice of a friend) 7. Plugged all original components back in and went to bed, the problem failed to fix itself overnight. (ive had a few that did) Any ideas? thanks. Citation4444 Posted December 9, 2002 Posted December 9, 2002 This might sound harsh, but I recommending dumping the A7V8X. It's one of the suckiest mb's Asus has ever made. They've issued bios revisions like there's no tomorrow in an attempt to make this sorry sucker work. I've got a couple friends who went through hell with this board and finally dumped it. IMO, you'll be better off in the long run to sell it to someone else who likes Asus.
Anubis Posted December 9, 2002 Posted December 9, 2002 I suppose that it would be reasonable to dump it, though throwing $150 down the drain hurts. Ive noticed several "fans" of this motherboard in this forum. So if you dont have any suggestions on fixing it, what would you recommend as a replacement (must have great stability and support AMD XP2000+) thanks
