Ln2 Overclocking

We recently did a LN2 OC.

We used P4 3.06, Asus P4B533-v, Corsair 256MB XMS3200, Ti4200, WD 200GB SE w8MB buffer.

I took a thermal take Cu heatsink, cut the fins off welded a 7" long 2" dia. Cu pipe to it. I wrapped it in styrofoam 1/2" for insulation. We rented a 10 liter dewar full of LN2 for the fun.

Liquid Nitrogen is dangerous stuff so dont play with it unless you know what you are doing. and have proper safety gear. It s very cold -196 C, It will cause intant frost bite.

Ok now that the safety warnings are out of the way.

We started pouring in the LN2, it took a few minutes to get everything down to a real low temp and slow the boiling rate of the LN2. The max we got it up to was 4207mhz. It was stable enough to surf net etc but nothing more than that. The hole purpose of this was to show an extreme form of cooling. It is not practical and only done really for fun, just to see if you can. Dropping it down to 3933 it was very stable, running 3D Mark over and over without problem. The score was kinda low... 12K. I would attribute it to the vid card being a 64mb ti4200 and not having any additional cooling. But that wasn't the point of this excercise anyway. It also ran Prime Number generator without issue. I would have played a little longer and switched vid cards to try and get a good benchmark score but I ran out of LN2. Unfortuneatly it was also fun to freeze and break stuff and that used up a fair amount before we got started.... I just got a Prometeia case in and am putting a XP2800+ system in it, afterwards I will revisit the P4 with the Prometeia. I only have a single unit so the Vid card will have to be air or liquid cooled. I do have a Exos unit to play with that could be used for that.

Does any one know what the faster OC on a 2800+ is so far?

This has all inspired me to start my own forum also. You can find it HERE
