gravy Posted January 1, 2005 Posted January 1, 2005 you need to check and add up the watts and amperage of draw by the components on the ups i had a $350 hospital grade UPS i tried one time, thing was huge, weighed about 30lbs. that would protect anything, problem is, it only output like 3 amps, and that is nowhere near going to cut it for a pc, kept shutting itself off every few minutes until i figured out why a good quality UPS that will protect and provide enough power to run a pc and monitor and all..............very expensive, the cheap ones aren't worth having.....my 2 cents
Nemo Posted January 1, 2005 Posted January 1, 2005 They're good against brownouts and power surges and mayb3 5 minute run time during an outage. They are not meant to power your system for any longer than it takes you to shut everything and and power off.
