Gb Vs Asus, Pc3500, Rambus

Recommended Posts

Hey, wondering what people's opinions are on Gigabyte GA-8IHXP vs the P4T-533C for Rambus boards.

Or if you think pc3500 is the way to go?

I'll be doing some mild overclocking, mainly with just the FSB

Ok, this is what I'm not sure of.. People say that Rdram is dead.. do you mean in terms of support? Because if they're still being sold, they ARE the fastest kind of ram, right?

Another question :P

If Ddr is the way to go, I'm a bit confused with the motherboards.. there's the P4PE boards, and granite bay are the latest, supporting 333Mhz officially.. but pc3500 is 434Mhz.. Err?

Ok, been reading some more, think I have the mobos figured out.. overclocking to achieve the results that the pc3500 can give, etc..

but what about rambus? 2 sticks of 512MB Rdram vs. 1 gig of pc3500 or other DDR? I've read about this, but not sure what the conclusion is now.

I'm using a P4PE and I love it.... I have a couple friends who picked up that P4T533 and are somehow a little frustrated [at the moment]... I'm OCing the PC3200 well past 435MHz... I'll be trying PC3500 soon just to see where I can take it--maybe past RDRAM bandwidth scores... I don't know about Gigabyte boards  ...never had one in here [yet]...

Well i guess what it comes down to is I'm not sure which cooling system I'm getting.. may get the AquariusII if it turns out to be decent.. or may go custom set.. but sets like the Innovatek are too expensive for me. So basically if the AquariusII turns out to be good, I'll only overclock as much as can be handled by it, and I may not need the better overclocking features of the ASUS as the Giga's OCing may be good enough (more people like the giga for non-overclocking).

Open for more opinions if ppl are bored..
