rjones Posted December 30, 2004 Posted December 30, 2004 Hello, I am building my first computer. I have ordered the following from from Newegg.com: AMD3400+ 2.4Ghz 1GB PDP (Patriot) DDR-3200 RAM with XBL Technology (Latency 2-2-2-5) Gigabyte GA-K8NS PRO Motherboard Thermaltake 420W Power Supply CHAINTECH nVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 128 MB DDR 64 Bit Video Card Chenming Case CD/RW-DVD Dual Layer DVD Burner Will this be a good setup? Thanks in advance, Richard
hardnrg Posted December 30, 2004 Posted December 30, 2004 what's up man... everything in that setup looks cool... the Tt 420W psu wouldn't be the best psu... an Enermax 470 or 480 (or whatever) would be better and is about the same price iirc... fx5200 suck for gaming, but if you're not into games then it'd be ok just for like windows and 2D stuff like photoshop and dvd's n stuff... i'd forget about the separate DVD/CDR combo drive and spend that money saved on a better graphics card... also, you'd probably save some more money by going with a 3200+ winchester core cpu... (they all have a similar oc wall apparently) welcome to occ dude
