Jonny5 Posted December 3, 2002 Posted December 3, 2002 I just got my Comp back from The tech monkeys in Ohio and I was wondering what safe temps are on my new CPU. Spec is AMD 1800+MP Heatsink is Thermaltake Volcano 8 Temps i was reading were 30-40c in case and 60-70 degrees on the core is this normal or should i worry Confused and need INFO! j5
d3bruts1d Posted December 3, 2002 Posted December 3, 2002 My 1800 was running at 48C, and then I managed to drop it down to 42C load... I always thought the high temp was due to my room being extreamly hot year round. After reading more into it, it looks as if the 1800 runs hotter than normal... and of course, the AMD CPUs run hotter than Intel. I've not seen anyone with 60-70C temp though, so you can say your are running hotter than you should be. Not seen the TT Volcano 8 in use yet, so can't say much about it. But the fan that comes with it looks like it sucks. I'd suggest replacing the fan on the TT Vol 8, and see if that helps. And the usual response, check your thermal compound. Jonny5 Posted December 3, 2002 Posted December 3, 2002 It probably has a stock compound or a thermal pad i guess i need to get some arctic silver or nanotherm also i checked and the max temp for the cpu is 95 and it said standard operating range is about 60 70 degrees i can probably get it down though I will probably wait till xmas when i get my second processor and i will get both heatsick attached with the better compound. thanks j5
Ronin Posted December 3, 2002 Posted December 3, 2002 the v8 sucks. Theres a reason no one has heard of it or used it. Its because it sucks. Get a v7+ or a v9. Both are much better
