Bunnykun Posted December 29, 2004 Posted December 29, 2004 I have a desktop and a laptop. The desktop runs XP Home, and the laptop runs XP Pro. The desktop is currently wired into a Motorola wireless router and 4-port switch. The Laptop is connected wireless to the router. Both computers have a default gateway IP, their own IP, and can network with each other. What I am trying to do is to share the dial-up connection on the desktop with the laptop, through the wireless router. I have done this before Ad Hoc, but their has been no success with the wireless router. Can anyone help?
Ste Posted December 29, 2004 Posted December 29, 2004 (edited) question/ isn't dial up crapola when its not being shared? just wondering it would make it go even slower. Edited December 29, 2004 by Ste
Bunnykun Posted December 29, 2004 Posted December 29, 2004 Yes it is. But when broadband isn't an option, we're willing to deal with it.

Vampire Posted December 30, 2004 Posted December 30, 2004 use intenet connection sharing I use a dial up modem between 3 computers connected to a switch. On my server rig (with the modem), I have turned on internet connection sharing. On the other computer(s) on your network, just make sure the gateway IP is that of the computer with the internet connection sharing enabled and your set. Bunnykun Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004 I use a dial up modem between 3 computers connected to a switch. On my server rig (with the modem), I have turned on internet connection sharing. On the other computer(s) on your network, just make sure the gateway IP is that of the computer with the internet connection sharing enabled and your set. That seems to have partially worked. After I set the Gateway IP to be the Desktop's IP, Trillian connected automatically. However, I can't access any websites. Autodetect in IE does not work. I think I need to change the proxy setting in Internet Explorer. , but I don't understand anything about ports. Any help?
