Juzman Posted December 2, 2002 Posted December 2, 2002 Hi, i have a AMD XP 2100+ and a MSI KT4V mobo, and was wondering could someone suggest a good CPU fan for my CPU, and also a chipset fan that would fit on the mobo ('cause theres capacitors in the way for most chipset coolers) Thankyou
tarkins Posted December 2, 2002 Posted December 2, 2002 I would suggest a Volcano 9 for the cpu.
Ronin Posted December 2, 2002 Posted December 2, 2002 the volcano 9 isnt the best but its very cheap and it works great. You wont see better cooling until you start spending like 20+ more.
Ronin Posted December 2, 2002 Posted December 2, 2002 oh yeah, tarkins, hows the cooling for a v7+ hs with the smart case fan 2 fan. I thought it would be pretty awesome.
xpandapuss Posted December 2, 2002 Posted December 2, 2002 Go for the 7+--yeah more money but you get what you pay for.....
Juzman Posted December 2, 2002 Posted December 2, 2002 thnx for that... so, the volcano9 would cool the CPU, but i want 'cool' so i dont mind spending some more money, and what about a chipset fan, recommend any?
Juzman Posted December 2, 2002 Posted December 2, 2002 heres the fan i was lookin at: http://www.coolpc.com.au/shop/index.html?prod=143 that with the variable speed.... that should be niiiice'n'cool...
tkos Posted December 2, 2002 Posted December 2, 2002 i would go with a Tt V9 for the cpu. Then for a chipset cooler I would try a Tt Blue Tornado. I have it on a GF4 Ti4200 and it cools that great so a little ol' northbridge should be like nothing!
Dgephri Posted December 2, 2002 Posted December 2, 2002 I picked up a Tt Crystal Orb thinking I would stick it to the northbridge of my MSI KT3...too bad all the capacitors are too close to do anything but use the sticky pad to hold it on, and then it fell off after two days. MSI seems to have laid out their mobos with the idea that you shouldn't put any cooling on the northbridges. Sorry to hear the KT4s have the same problem.
