El_Hormono Posted November 30, 2002 Posted November 30, 2002 I hope there's anyone out there that can help me, since i got a really old rig. PIII 450@581 /w std HSF Katmai ABIT BE6-2 512 MB PC133 Kingston Ive got my old 450 MHz running at 581 MHz, but at Vcore=2.10V it's not completely stable. I'd up it to 2.20 but i'm not quite sure about the Temp. As it is it's running 49C/120F idle and 60C/140F under full load. I'm not sure what temps are okay for an old PIII450. If anyone could please help me out here, so I dont blow up my CPU... Greetz, El
bishop245 Posted November 30, 2002 Posted November 30, 2002 i am not sure what safe temp range you should have but that sounds hot to me i think you should upgrade your hsf before going any higher
Psywar Posted November 30, 2002 Posted November 30, 2002 Exactly what he said.. the temp is pretty high for a pentium Processer.. I would get a new heatsink.. with a nice fast RPM fan.. and then check the temps.. see if you can get em to drop to like.. low 40's if so.. up that vcore

El_Hormono Posted December 1, 2002 Posted December 1, 2002 Thanx for replying. I took it down to 576MHz and now it runs stable on Vcore=2.10V. I don't know what the new temps are, but upping the Vcore will heat it up even more and since I have no other HSF, I dare not do this. Does anyone know of a good cooler for a Slot 1 PIII (Katmai)? And are they still available? Still +28% isn't that bad, or is it. But I have seen this CPU go over 700 tho... EL
