I stumbled onto a p4 2.8c Gateway. Im not an Intel guy so I need help choosing a board and ram for OCing. Its an m0 stepping BTW. Im planning on keeping it at home and using it for f@h only while Im at school, so any help on running 2 instances would be good too.

It it's for a Folding rig, I guess you'd just want a 512 stick. Probably just about any PC4000 (as long as it's not absolute garbage) should be able to go 1:1 with that chip. If it turns out to be quite the OC'er, you may need faster RAM. For a mobo, get a DFI 865 or 875 Infinity (I think they make 865 and 875 models) or a vanilla Abit IC7.

m0 steppings are very good cpus should overclock well. Grab an Abit IC7 and some of that new 2-2-2-5 ram and you're golden.

i have that same chip, ive had good luck with my MSI board.

you really only need 256 for F@H to run fine. i haven't played around to see if better timings help at all, but make sure your RAM will OC enugh to keep your CPU happy

those m0 stepping chips are fuggin awesome. i'd say get something more than pc4000 if you're going to overclock.

a p4p800 deluxe is pretty cheap. and good for ocing i have my 2.8 at 3.65 with that board. as far as ram i would get some pc4000 2x256 to run dual channel this will help when runing f@h
