Phil Posted December 23, 2004 Posted December 23, 2004 I've got this prog. in my computer, apparently from day one, I don't know what it is or what would happen if I deleted it. I can't open any of the files (.DLL), can't figure out how to install it, (if it isn't already) can't open it as a program. It's pretty big at 10MB. I googled it, it's apparently spyware put in by the cable company. Safe to delete?

Phil Posted December 23, 2004 Posted December 23, 2004 So deleting it is not fool proof. Thanks for the warning.

Ghost2520 Posted December 23, 2004 Posted December 23, 2004 What program is it and where can I check my computer for it?
Phil Posted December 23, 2004 Posted December 23, 2004 I always see it when I go to "add or delete programs", but it's in plain view in my program files, right along with all the others. But it's not in the "all programs" list of the "start' menu.

O(V)eGA_l2el) Posted December 24, 2004 Posted December 24, 2004 You can easily uninstall that; it is used to "test" your connection. In my opinion, it is useless software bundled with DSL modem kits (modem, filters, etc.) Also, it can be used if you like to know when your ISP is having problems or changes of any kind. Phil Posted December 24, 2004 Posted December 24, 2004 So is it a diagnostic tool, spyware, or both?
