Turist Posted November 23, 2002 Posted November 23, 2002 Hi Is it possible to unlock an Intel p4 2,0ghz cpu! I have the cpu on a Gigabyte GA-8ST mobo. No jumpers on mobo, nothing to do in bios. Is it a crappy mobo? Any advise how i can do? Cheers /Turist
DevilMB3017 Posted November 23, 2002 Posted November 23, 2002 You cannot unlock the multipler on any Intel Petium as far as I know. If you want to learn how to OC and the options you might be able to change, refer to my guides. Part One Part Two
xpandapuss Posted November 24, 2002 Posted November 24, 2002 I've heard and read that they are far and wide and practically impossible to acquire.....--IMO, why bother trying to unlocking the multiplier...P4's OC very well--"They can take a good PUSH!!!!".... Turist Posted November 24, 2002 Posted November 24, 2002 Thanks for the guide even though it seems i have no use for it. I thought I should have fun and overclock my pc for my first time, but no : /
Psywar Posted November 24, 2002 Posted November 24, 2002 why not?
DevilMB3017 Posted November 24, 2002 Posted November 24, 2002 Even if your chip can't have the multipler changed, you can still mess with other settings. Mulitpler x FSB = CPU Speed (Frequnecy). You can still change the FSB...
Vashious Posted November 24, 2002 Posted November 24, 2002 Yeah, changing the FSB is a piece of cake as well, and as long as you don't mess with voltage settings you really don't have to worry about damaging anything either.
xpandapuss Posted November 24, 2002 Posted November 24, 2002 So long as you're careful with the voltage....it'll work for you.... <_

tkos Posted November 26, 2002 Posted November 26, 2002 you canb overclock ok, but you can't to the best of my knowledge anyway unlock a P4. ask around though I may not be correct in this!
