Ne suggestions? thanks for all the help.
d3bruts1d Posted November 22, 2002 Posted November 22, 2002 I suggest these three 80x80x38mm fans: --- DELTA - 80.16CFM - 52.5dBA - 5700RPM --- Tornado - 84.1CFM - 55.2dBA - 5700RPM --- Sunon - 84.1CFM - 55.2dBA - 5700RPM All three fans are prices under $15.00 and well worth it. I have the delta runing on my MCX370 and the Tornado running on my MCX462 and both cool extreamly well. You could use the TT SMART Case Fan II if you wanted, in fact, you can use any 80x80mm fan. Though, it's not going to cool as well... -- TT SMART CF2 - 75.7 CFM - 48dBA - 4800RPM
psykos!s Posted November 22, 2002 Posted November 22, 2002 if the delta black label or any other 80mm 6-7000 rpm fan gets too noisy for ya, re-wire it to 7v instead of 12v. Temps are not as low, but the fan is comparatively silent. Another trick with the Swiftech impingement design is to raise the fan up higher off the heatsink and seal the edges with duct tape (aluminum foil duct tape looks prettier than the fabric kind). this will even out the airflow accross the pins and signifigantly lessen the 'dead zone' right over the cpu core that the fan makes. last note--DON'T lap the Swiftech! Vashious Posted November 23, 2002 Posted November 23, 2002 Get the Tornado, you'll get used to the noise!!
d3bruts1d Posted November 23, 2002 Posted November 23, 2002 I use both the Delta and the Tornado on my swiftys, and you do get use to the noise level after a week or two. Though when I'm on the phone with someone they still ask me "Are you vaccuming?" If you don't want something that noisy, I suggest just buying a different fan rather than re-wiring it. Running a 12v fan at 5v will lower the noise, as well as the fan speed.. So why even bother? Just buy something quieter in the first place. As far as the lapping comment made by psykos!s. Lapping is something you need to decide if you are going to do for yourself. Swiftech laps their heat sinks before they ship them out, however lapping can give you better results. psykos!s seams to think otherwise.
