Psywar Posted November 21, 2002 Posted November 21, 2002 In my opinion.. Volcano's are ok.. From what I have read.. and reviewed from other sites.. the Volcano 9 HEatsink isent up to par.. I would get a Volcano 7+ and get a Volcano 9 Smart Fan II and put it on there.. Â But in all reality.. If your going to overclock, you want something thats going to 0wn your cpu I would get a Swiftech HSF Â this would be an ideal one for your cpu: Swiftech MCX462+ Also I would get the fan option the tornado.. it will be loud.. but it will definitly do the job.. get some artic silver 3.. slap it on there.. and you wont be disapointed.. lldrew Posted November 21, 2002 Posted November 21, 2002 i want a swifttech but its expensive and u have to like screw it in and crap. i dont know. I want good performance, and people said volcano 9 sucks with like an atholon xp 2000+.
Ronin Posted November 21, 2002 Posted November 21, 2002 the v9 has similar performance to the v7+ only with more options. Right now Im running at 3/4th power and you can see my temps in my sig...ofcourse this is only when my house is at 65F...which is where I keep it
DevilMB3017 Posted November 21, 2002 Posted November 21, 2002 My V9 is incredible. 35 load temp at full speed. The lug is kinda hard to get on, but not very. BTW, my CPU is an Athlon XP 1600+ (1400 Mhz) running @ 1743 MHz.
xpandapuss Posted November 21, 2002 Posted November 21, 2002 I can't say much about the 9 but I'm doing very well with this 7+.....
lldrew Posted November 21, 2002 Posted November 21, 2002 anybody ever tryed the VANTEC AeroFlow VA4-C7040?
Psywar Posted November 21, 2002 Posted November 21, 2002 i want a swifttech but its expensive and u have to like screw it in and crap. i dont know. I want good performance, and people said volcano 9 sucks with like an atholon xp 2000+. you dont have to screw anything.. Â theres a screw on the clip.. u like losen the screw abit so it tightens on to the motherboard.. its the best design I have ever seen.. this way you know you have a great contact with the cpu! Â very very easy to install..
Psywar Posted November 21, 2002 Posted November 21, 2002 Oh yeah.. and BTW: Its worth the extra cash.. you wont be disapointed..
lldrew Posted November 21, 2002 Posted November 21, 2002 alright so i looked at the Swiftech MCX370-C and it looks pretty good and easy to install. I can afford it, so its like this: in your opinion which is easier to instal. The volcano 9 or the Swiftech MCX370-C. Also which one would be best for an atholon XP 2000+
chevy_z71 Posted November 21, 2002 Posted November 21, 2002 I have an xp 1800+ and I am using a v9 w/ artic silver 3. My load temps used to be about 55C and now they are 42C. I think that it is a really good hsf. I also think that it was easy to install, not much different than installing the stock hsf.
