Miichael Posted November 19, 2002 Posted November 19, 2002 ok i gotta question first of all is the 8mb buffer alot faster than a 2 mb? it still says it transfers 100mb sec? which would u prefer a seagate 120 GB 7200 or a WD 120 GB 7200 w/8mb buffer? Ronin Posted November 19, 2002 Posted November 19, 2002 Id want the 8mb buffer. Bigger is better, although if theres a significant cost diffrence then its probably not worth it. It porbably makes a diffrence but not a very big one.
DevilMB3017 Posted November 20, 2002 Posted November 20, 2002 It makes nanoseconds difference. The buffer uses what it thinks it will need. The bigger, the quicker basic operations are.

DevilMB3017 Posted November 21, 2002 Posted November 21, 2002 Tarkins brings up a really good point... Â Money is very important too.

xpandapuss Posted November 22, 2002 Posted November 22, 2002 I believe you shouldn't skimp out on cash if you want better performance......--I recommend 8MB cache. Since I purchased a WD800JB I stop using any other HD's for MY systems....
NyCUnDaGroUnD Posted November 23, 2002 Posted November 23, 2002 yeah HD is just as important as any other component. Choose wisely.
killroyianlogic Posted November 25, 2002 Posted November 25, 2002 I have had outstanding results with my WD 80 gig 8mb cache. I personally think it is about 5-10% faster. I would definately recommend it.
