Darksypher Posted December 4, 2004 Posted December 4, 2004 Im sure this must sound like a dumb question, but can you only run geforce cards on the new nforce4 SLI boards? no ati?
Duff Man Posted December 4, 2004 Posted December 4, 2004 (edited) yup... a great marketing stragety on NVIDIA's part I must say. wait for ATI to realease dual core cards to compet with SLI and watch NVIDIA release dual core cards that are SLI compatable... hehe... oh, you know that SLI is a NVIDIA thing right? look for the Nforce 4 SLI mobo soon. bigred Posted December 4, 2004 Posted December 4, 2004 got the setup with SLI. till there's software to support this monstrosity... don't bother. WAY to expensive for a pair of 6800 ultra's, the SLI mobo, and everything else needed to go with them. especially when you're not getting more than a 2-10% gain tops. pay 85% more for that? no way. GregP24 Posted December 5, 2004 Posted December 5, 2004 I'm sure ATi will come out with an SLI setup. Man, a dual core SLI would just be awesome.
Paranoid Posted December 5, 2004 Posted December 5, 2004 Considering ATi is working on an SLI chipset, I think it's fair to assume they're also working an SLI enabled graphics cards.
GregP24 Posted December 5, 2004 Posted December 5, 2004 X200? I wasn't aware it would support SLI. Guess I should have read the entire article then, eh?
airman Posted December 5, 2004 Posted December 5, 2004 X200? I wasn't aware it would support SLI. Guess I should have read the entire article then, eh? o__O where'd that come from?
Paranoid Posted December 5, 2004 Posted December 5, 2004 o__O where'd that come from? Radeon Xpress 200, aka RS480/RX480. SLI - ATI claims that this PCI Express 20-lane design is capable of supporting dual PCIe x8 slots for combining 2 graphics cards in an SLI configuration. Plans are already in place at ATI for an SLI version of RX480 to be introduced in early 2005. AnandTech article
ClayMeow Posted December 5, 2004 Posted December 5, 2004 You can use ATI with SLI. There's been reviews/tests/benchmarks with them...as well as one using one nvidia card and one ati card (as you'd assume, that latter test didn't pan out to well. lol)
