nVidia_Freak Posted November 26, 2004 Posted November 26, 2004 i honestly think Dell is your best bet Dell doesn't have any 17" WXGA-WUXGA displays. Although, any reason for a 17" WXGA? A 15.4" WXGA would do just fine. If you later you or your grandma change your minds, and want a 15.4" WXGA, you could go with... eMachines M5310 - AMD Athlon XP-M 2400+ - $879.99 eMachines M5309 - AMD Athlon XP-M 2500+ - $889.99 eMachines M2350 - AMD Athlon XP-M 2800+ - $899.97 eMachines M5313 - AMD Athlon XP-M 2500+ - $899.99 eMachines M5305 - AMD Athlon XP-M 2200+ - $899.99 Toshiba Satellite A75-S206 - Intel P4 @ 2.8GHz - $999.99 eMachines M6410 - Intel P4 @ 2.8GHz - $999.99 eMachines M6805 - AMD Athlon 64 3000+ - $1079.97 That's just a few. You could also go with Compaq or Dell.
hardnrg Posted November 26, 2004 Posted November 26, 2004 any reason for the widescreen 16:9 ratio display? (WXGA WUXGA) dunno how old this grandma is, but anything over 1024x768 is gonna be pushing it on the eyes surely...
kanbeki Posted November 26, 2004 Posted November 26, 2004 I just figured big screen at low res = easy to read
nVidia_Freak Posted November 26, 2004 Posted November 26, 2004 I just figured big screen at low res = easy to read Bigger screens at low resolutions do provide easy reading, but a 17" WXGA is overkill for that. a 14.1" or 15" XGA, SXGA, or UXGA will do fine. I'd for for a 14.1" or 15" XGA display at 800x600 for easy reading, or an SXGA or UXGA if you can find one. And a 40 gig hdd will do fine for photos. Gateway Solo 350 - Intel P4 @ 3.06GHz - $1129.99 Systemax 100935 - Intel P4 @ 3.06GHz - $1099.99 HP/Compaq NC8000 - Intel P-M @ 1.6GHz - $1299.
kanbeki Posted November 26, 2004 Posted November 26, 2004 14" uh..she already complains about her 19" for her desktop...its not overkill, and she has a lot of photos..whole lot of photos

Wow, uhm, you better go with the 17" widescreens then. But, seeing as that would be a bit smaller than the 19", I dont see how it would help. CmpFreak88 Posted November 26, 2004 Posted November 26, 2004 Well obviously it would be a bit smaller, and it has to be expected for portability, but I agree with Hardnrg that Dell would be your best bet. HP is also pretty good.
