DrAwesomePhD Posted November 24, 2004 Posted November 24, 2004 Hey, still having troubles with my computer @[email protected] i seem to have narrowed it down to the AGP slot being the only remaining problem. I guess the AGP slot is simply dead beyond repair, but the rest of the motherboard works perfectly fine. The computer booted for a good 10 minutes, then i got a VGA error, then it ran for another 5 mins and froze... Anyway, what im asking is, does anyone know if the AGP slot can be replaced? Not by me, but by a professional? It shoudlnt be too expensive ($20 maybe?) and would be helluva lot cheaper than a new mobo. Can this be done? Silverfox Posted November 24, 2004 Posted November 24, 2004 hmm...im thinking that $20 is a bit cheap to fix it, even if someone would.... hate to say it but i think a new mobo is the cheapest way about this, as well as the most feasibile. hardnrg Posted November 24, 2004 Posted November 24, 2004 the actual agp slot isn't much more than a plastic shell with metal contacts in it... there's not really much you can do to fix it because it'd be like ... er... i can't think of a fitting analogy, but basically, i highly doubt the agp slot could be faulty and then you could just re-solder a new one on... to me, that's like replacing your windshield wipers if your car broke down
cchalogamer Posted November 24, 2004 Posted November 24, 2004 mor eliek the wiper blades if the wiper motor fried. Im guessing that it's something fried in the chipset/bios/circuitry to AGP slot. That actually boke. new mobo is the only sure way to fix it.
