DrAwesomePhD Posted November 23, 2004 Posted November 23, 2004 You may or may not know, but recently i had a watercooling accident. I cleaned it up (as best i could) and let the parts dry out for 2 days... now i just reassembled it and got this error when booting up... it says NTLDR is missing... it says this right after it does the Verifying DMI pool....... then it says NTLDR is missing, press Ctrl + Alt + Del to restart Anyone know what the NTLDR is or how i can make it not missing...? i thought i had everything hooked up correctly, but maybe i didnt. sooo , if anyone can idenfity this error it would be much appreciated ^_^
MindDrive Posted November 23, 2004 Posted November 23, 2004 sounds like windows needs to be "fixed" usually when "ntldr" is missing it means that the boot sequence got messed up - if you have 2 harddrives then switch them around - that might fix the problem - you just may hafta format and reinstall everything good to see that your puter is back up and running --- just a lil reminder - just because it got wet doesnt mean that its toast

Silverfox Posted November 23, 2004 Posted November 23, 2004 are you using a proper copy of xp? ntldr is a network file/driver or something....windows needs a repair my friend. otherwise, you might wanna look on google - my dad's business computer lost this file once and i am pretty sure that he found a file or something to repair it. good luck all the same
MindDrive Posted November 23, 2004 Posted November 23, 2004 "NTLDR" is the NT portion of windows xp and LDR is for "loader" hence NTLDR - nt loader -- yoru boot got corrupted - just repair it or reintall

BiPolar Posted November 23, 2004 Posted November 23, 2004 nope, definitely a corrupt boot file...i think i iposted something about this when i had this problem...if not, PM me and i'll look around my stuff for it. oops...found it...this wasn't for a corrupt ntldr, but it might work that same way. try this
DrAwesomePhD Posted November 24, 2004 Posted November 24, 2004 i figured it out, it was the harddrive thing... i had the harddrives hooked up backwards on the SATA (dont know why that matters, but i switched em and had no troubles...) with this...
