Jfk Reloaded

The game's pretty simple. You're Lee Harvey Oswald. You're in the book depository. You look out the window and see a car come around the corner, then you see the President's convertible. You zoom in with your sniper rifle and fire. In the end, your recreation's submitted back to the company and the person who comes closest to reenacting the actual event wins $100,000. There's a demo available, but your gun is empty. The game is a $10 download. Any comments on the game?

You can download the demo at www.jfkreloaded.net . It's a 13MB download. The game itself is a DX9 game, but submits your results to the creator's server when you're done

I think it's wrong to recreate a murder, especially one that affected so many people.

Happens every time someone developes a first person shooter; heck, look at most of the "historically accurate" WWII games and even 'Nam games nowadays [HURR HURR BUT ITS SOLDIERS AND ITS WARRR WTH!?!?/111]; I think its fine because:

#1. Yes, we know its horrible in real life, but this is a video game.

#2. We should all know that video games are make-believe.

#3. I am "okay" with all other video games that have us murdering others because it is a video game.

#4. How many times do I need to restate this? Its pretend.

So, basically, let them do what they want, and if you don't like it, don't buy it. I know I won't, because its a game that lacks depth and I really don't feel like shooting JFK.

In a sense, it's like playing BF 1942 and being a German. You're killing American soldiers, but it's not real. That, and the game doesn't seem too real. Mostly because I don't believe the Lone Gunman theory like the game requires you to

Maybe if there was specific people in the game, but there's a big difference between killing nameless npcs, and recreating a specific assassination of a world leader. They say it's for educational purposes, but that's complete bs. They shouldn't be allowed to use JFK's name and likeness without the family's permission. Like Ted said, it's despicable.

What?!?! You mean that you take a person sitting at their computer 40 years after the fact, firing a simulated bullet, with a simulated gun at a simulated president, it doesn't prove that it really did happen that way? </sarcasm>

but..

Like claymeow said, theres a big difference between acting out killing enemy soldiers in war game, and acting out the assination (aka murder) of a president.

but..

I don't know that there is any reason this game should be no allowed as long as games like GTA3 are on the market.

but..

Personally i feel this game is in extremely bad taste.

ok i'm done

Is killing nameless enemy solders in BFV, BF1942, MoH, CoD, BHD, or any of these other simulated war games really any different? They may not have names in the game, but they are based on people from history. People, who died, people who had families. People like JFK.

If there was a similar game where you could assassinate Stalin, Hitler, Moore, Osama, Saddam, or a number of other people, would that be acceptable?

Like many others, I do think that the game is in bad taste... but I'm not really a person with much taste to begin with. ;)

Hell, for a shot at (pardon the pun) $100,000 I may give it a try.
