vandals856 Posted November 22, 2004 Posted November 22, 2004 (edited) I about to upgrade from a nvidia 5200 fx and i went to newegg.com and i saw 2 cards that i liked one was the High Tech ATI RADEON 9800PRO Video Card, 128MB DDR, 256-bit, DVI/TV-Out, 8X AGP, Model "EXCALIBUR R9800PRO ICEQ " -RETAIL (iceq) with a vga silencer already built in linknewegg.com info or a ATI AIW RADEON 9800PRO Video Card, 128MB DDR, 256-bit, DVI/CATV/VIVO, 8X AGP, Model "ALL-IN-WONDER 9800 PRO" -RETAIL link:newegg.com info they are both almost the same price. Which one would you choose the one with the vga silencer already built in or the all in wonder with its cool radio frequency remote. or do you recomend something better for the same price or lower. sandman1485 Posted November 22, 2004 Posted November 22, 2004 One thing - use pricewatch to find it cheaper and then go to www.resellerratings.com to check how legit the seller is. The difference between those two cards is one has the TV, the other doesn't. The one with the big heatsink looks like it might be good for overclocking, however personally I'd take the TV over an extra 50mhz. Ziggy54354 Posted November 22, 2004 Posted November 22, 2004 also if u get hl2 with the allinwonder u get 20$ off. The HIS one doesnt look like they are going to be restocked either.
Stripe Posted November 22, 2004 Posted November 22, 2004 If it's possible, i'd go the HIS with the vga silencer, the normal cards tend to overclock much better. But that's just because i'm a gamer. I think the all-in-wonders are also adaptable as tv tuner cards (don't quote me) so it all depends on what you want to do with it. vandals856 Posted November 23, 2004 Posted November 23, 2004 (edited) doesnt the all in wonder get kinda hot though, i read a review from this person who left it his pc on like for more than 6 days and got fried, but since my tv 27" is hooked up to my computer it would be good because my tv is kinda messed up the RF from the back is broken i can only connect the A/v to it ,so i cant watch tv all i am using it for is when i watch videos from my pc or hook up one of my game systems. It would be great to be able to watch my favorate tv shows in my room. I would like to put a vga silencer on it but im a noob ,never put one before and i think i might mess it up or something. What do you suggest should i get the all in wonder, whats keeping me from buying it is, ive been hearing that it gets hot. ayampirupiru Posted November 23, 2004 Posted November 23, 2004 I choose the first one since it have already equip with silencer and it is a iceq model...if you re thinking of ocing it pick number one.
sandman1485 Posted November 23, 2004 Posted November 23, 2004 I'm not sure about it getting too hot - you'd have to have it running doing some heavy stuff for 6 days straight in order for it to get that hot. some reviews. Think of it this way... which is worth more? another 5fps from a 9800pro with a good heatsink, or the tv?
vandals856 Posted November 24, 2004 Posted November 24, 2004 I think ill go with the all in wonder since most people ive ask said go with the one with the tv tuner, i was wondering if its easy to install a vga silencer on the all in wonder just incase it does get a bit too hot. VGA silencer isn't compatible with the All In Wonder cards.
