Bionix Posted November 22, 2004 Posted November 22, 2004 My girlfriends computer wouldnt even load windows... So I had it do a Disk check and that fixed that problem. Then the keyboard didnt work, so i tried the other USB ports... didnt work.... so then I tried using the mous's usb to ps2 converter on the keyboard and that didnt work. So I just went into a guest account and ran adaware and avg.... AVG found a bunch of stuff but it didnt delete anything, errors kept coming up saying it found some trojans. Do you guys think a virus could mess with her comp's ability to read periphreals (keyboard) ... even though her mouse worked fine. Coolzero101 Posted November 22, 2004 Posted November 22, 2004 It depends what kind of keyboard it is, it could be broke, maybe it needs a driver, or maybe that installation of windows is [email protected]^#'ed

Guest FxXP Posted November 22, 2004 Posted November 22, 2004 If the PnP service in XP is broke, it won't detect any hardware what so ever, it will report a Code 11 error. Does that happen?
Bionix Posted November 22, 2004 Posted November 22, 2004 nah, the mouse works... so does that eliminate that pnp problem?

Silverfox Posted November 23, 2004 Posted November 23, 2004 try running stinger in safe mode my friend. i found 2 viruses that AVG never even saw....
andrusk Posted November 23, 2004 Posted November 23, 2004 Am I the only one that saw when he said it had trojans? I think you're screwed. You could maybe run a dos based anti virus and fix it, but if that doesnt work, I see a windows reinstall in your future. fon1 Posted November 23, 2004 Posted November 23, 2004 This is a little off the path, but relates to reformatting because of virus, I thought i read that some viruses have the ability withstand a reformat (Something to do with system restore) I have reformatted before with a full erase and have had stuff in the recycle bin that i knew had been in there before the reformat.?? Anyone comments might help any interested in this post.
