bdylyzsouless Posted November 20, 2004 Posted November 20, 2004 I've got a question about my watercooling setup. I have it running from the pump to the res>>cpu>>radiator>>back to pump. Is this right? My temps aren't very good. I'm getting 40 to 46*c. From what I've seen, that's way too high. I think something is wrong with my setup. Please help. slayer2cool Posted November 20, 2004 Posted November 20, 2004 there was a study done about this...the arrangement dont really matter and it only brings about 0.5C temp drop or increase http://www.overclockers.com/articles1088/ check it out if you want ..what kind of stuff are you using for your watercooling? could be your temp probe is really off
bdylyzsouless Posted November 20, 2004 Posted November 20, 2004 well I bought an asetek basic kit with a hydor l20 pump and black ice pro 120 mm radiator. I added a danger den reservoir to it. It's a pretty sweet kit I'm just concerned about these temps. BTW: My temps were the same when I was using air cooling with a thermalright sp-97. Thanks. p8baller07 Posted November 20, 2004 Posted November 20, 2004 ...You want the cool water to go right to your CPU.... Here is what i do Pump>Radi>CPU>Res>Pump(back) i do that... i am folding w/ 31*c right now.. i usally have a 28*c idle
bdylyzsouless Posted November 20, 2004 Posted November 20, 2004 you mean take the output of my pump to the radiator first? then to the cpu. Ok ill try it.
E Fudd Posted November 21, 2004 Posted November 21, 2004 The Cpu should be right after the rad. Its the coolest water
MindDrive Posted November 21, 2004 Posted November 21, 2004 yup i agree - i run my setup: submersible pump inside res->radiator->cpu->gpu->northbridge->back to pump/res load temps bout 108F cpu, 94 chipset, 97gpu while using only a 60gph pump so i would hafta say that its the best setup (i might use a bigger pump in the future but 108F at 50-100% load temp with hyperthreading is pretty good)
airman Posted November 21, 2004 Posted November 21, 2004 o___O suprised noone has said this yet. reseat the water block. the order will not make that much of a difference. unless you have something like an aquarius ii....which a friend of mine had and got about the same temps with it as you have now. bdylyzsouless Posted November 21, 2004 Posted November 21, 2004 ya i figured i needed to reseat the block regardless but having the rad cool the water right before it hits the block makes a lot of sense so I'm gonna go ahead and try that tonight. Thanks a lot everyone.
E Fudd Posted November 21, 2004 Posted November 21, 2004 when you reseat - check this out http://www.arcticsilver.com/arctic_alumina_instructions.htm I used to make mine like a peanutbutter sandwich. It will raise the temps with too much depending on what kind (how tight) of waterblock clamp you have.
bdylyzsouless Posted November 21, 2004 Posted November 21, 2004 I just reseated my block and rearranged the waterflow and now I'm getting between 30 and 33*c! Haven't checked load temps yet. But I'm excited. Anyway, just wanted to get back to you guys on this. Thanks for all the help. Edit: Well, I'm hittin about 38*c full load. NICE!
