Ston_Haus Posted November 4, 2002 Posted November 4, 2002 I have just reinstalled windows xp and ever since I have been missing a huge chunk of my hd. I run a raid config. with 2 40gb hds and should have about 35gb free. When I check the properties of windows it says that I only have 18-20 gb free. So, i opened the c: drive and selected all the files and checked their properties. That told me that I had about 40 gb taken up. Is there any setting that has the files from my old windows install still hanging around? Any suggestions besides reformatting my hds? Ston_Haus Posted November 4, 2002 Posted November 4, 2002 I think u were confused. I have 76gb left after formatting the drive to NTFS and installing windows. Then I should have about 35gb left after putting on all my files on, but there is only 18 left (or so XP tells me). I just want to know how to get my space back or if there is a program that checks this and possibly without reformatting my comp. Thnx for the help. bishop245 Posted November 4, 2002 Posted November 4, 2002 you could try the cleanup software from www.emesoft.se it will find duplicate files and all sorts of other things
Ronin Posted November 12, 2002 Posted November 12, 2002 what type of raid are you on?
robbie Posted November 12, 2002 Posted November 12, 2002 Do an advanced search and find out what your biggest files are. If I remember correctly a windows backup will take up about 50 megs. Rob
