Just great! now I'm gonna' be paranoid about my NB cooler

Thanks a bunch Eva_Unit_0 :P (j/k)

Wait, you have chipsets that actually require cooling? I seem to remember all the old SS7 boards as having bare chipsets, lol. :P

Oh that's right, you have some new Socket A stuff.

My MSI socket 370's get quite a hot chipset too (@ 83Mhz fsb) ;) a passive heatsink (cutdown SS7) does rather nicely :P

Though I used to run this in summer...

get the h/s off a nice old processor, and so long as it's not too big, stick it on. nice silent solution ;)

the abit chipset coolers suck. I seem em dead all the time.

also think this is the reason that MOST quality boards these days have opted for a bigassed heatsink in place of a little on with a fan. big heatsink with no moving parts does NOT fail.

It could fall off. Or disintegrate when you accidentally shoot your Motherboard with your ray gun.

My IC7 Max III's NB fan is also on the way out lol. Sometimes I boot up and hear a loud noise (louder than my tornado), I look at my fan controller and see my NB fan is going at like 300 RPM, gotta shutdown to fix it. I really cant be bothered replacing it though
