Freeder Posted October 27, 2004 Posted October 27, 2004 Going to a friend's house to teach him the arts of overclocking. Since he has a 3.4 c chip, I was wondering how high can it go? He has a SP-94/tornado. Thanks.

hardnrg Posted October 27, 2004 Posted October 27, 2004 a gig oc might be possible, but could be less/more depending on the cpu/ram/mobo/psu/etc
GregP24 Posted October 28, 2004 Posted October 28, 2004 3.4's, as a rule, don't OC well. I suspect you won't get much more than 200-300mhz out of it. I had a 3.2 that wouldn't go beyond 3.5ghz.
humboldt Posted October 28, 2004 Posted October 28, 2004 I got mine to 3.6 but that was it....
Freeder Posted October 28, 2004 Posted October 28, 2004 Dang, that does seem weak humboldt. So I shouldn't get his hopes up for a 4ghz oc.
FaNta84 Posted October 28, 2004 Posted October 28, 2004 yeah man i doubt the 3.4 C will be able to hit much more than 3.6. They are not near as good overclockers as the 2.4C and 3.0C. The 3.4EE however is a pretty darn good overclocker, one of the best there is.
road-runner Posted October 28, 2004 Posted October 28, 2004 After putting my 3.4C together I ran it up to 3.85 before it would not boot on stock vcore, I was just curious how high it would go, I am using the stock HSF and the Asus P4C800 Deluxe and OCZ PC4200 cas 2.5, but Its a folding machine so I did not go water cooling and the mods to the MB like I did with my 3.2EE, it stopped booting at around 3.8ghz also, I done the vdimm mod and gave the RAM a little over 3 volts and it went over 4ghz. All chips are different, this one had the 30 caps on the bottom instead or 12 if that means anything. I may go ahead a water cool it I have the stuff to do it with and see just what it will do. I just hate to turn a folding machine off unless I have to.
