Kamikaze_Badger Posted October 27, 2004 Posted October 27, 2004 Ok, for thoes of you who havn't seen what Shrike looks like, a quick recap: Now, I need modding ideas. In about 20 days, my cathodes, fans, and fan grills will arrive from my dad. He's actually incouraging my modding(something my brother never did... *sniff*), so I can't wait to get to it. Problem is... what should I do with Shrike? Window would really be useless... Maybe the cathodes in there to light it up, and the fans under the HSF? Dasterdly Posted October 27, 2004 Posted October 27, 2004 First thing.... Dust off your heatsink!! Do a general cleaning up first.... and I bet as you do that, you will get a few good ideas.

Hyper Threaded Posted October 27, 2004 Posted October 27, 2004 It might take a bit off your temp, dust is an insulator.

Eva_Unit_0 Posted October 27, 2004 Posted October 27, 2004 WOW before you even think about modding you really need to clean that sucker out. I take it you have a smoker in your household? That is some crazy dust, man.
cchalogamer Posted October 27, 2004 Posted October 27, 2004 I once lowerd the temps on a friend's 2600+ 8deg by cleaning out that much dust.....lol. IDK about mod ideas (so much intemidating space lol remember i have a SFF) Nice to see you creating 2 good usefull threads in one days vs the old 2 crap no one cares ones (never though i would say that to you lol)
TheSternMystic Posted October 27, 2004 Posted October 27, 2004 Dust is also great at resisting airflow, and that heatsink has a mat of it covering right where the air flows through. I dumbed 22*C off a friends CPU temp by cleaning the dust off the heatsink.
